IGCC India in Bangladesh (High Commission of India, Dhaka) organized a musical evening on 16 July 2026 at HCI, Dhaka to commemorate the death anniversary of legendary Indian playback singer Mohammed Rafi. The event featured captivating performances by Indian artist Ms. Priyangbada Banerjee and Bangladeshi artist Md. Rashed Uddin.

On the occasion, High Commissioner of India Shri Dinesh Trivedi said that Rafi Sahab’s timeless classics unite mankind beyond religious differences and geographical borders.

The program was attended by Hon’ble Minister of State for Cultural Affairs, Mr. Ali Newaz Mahmood Khyom and his spouse. Music enthusiasts from across cultural, business and media circles of Dhaka took part in the program.

কিংবদন্তী ভারতীয় প্লেব্যাক সিঙ্গার মোহাম্মদ রফির মৃত্যুবার্ষিকী স্মরণে, বাংলাদেশে অবস্থিত আইজিসিসি ইন্ডিয়া (ভারতীয় হাই কমিশন, ঢাকা) গত ১৬ জুলাই, ২০২৬-এ ভারতীয় হাই কমিশন, ঢাকায় একটি সঙ্গীত সন্ধ্যার আয়োজন করে। এই অনুষ্ঠানটিতে ভারতীয় শিল্পী শ্রীমতি প্রিয়ংবদা ব্যানার্জী ও বাংলাদেশি শিল্পী জনাব মোঃ রাশেদ উদ্দিনের মনোমুগ্ধকর পরিবেশনা অন্তর্ভুক্ত ছিল।

ভারতীয় হাই কমিশনার শ্রী দিনেশ ত্রিবেদী এই অনুষ্ঠানে উল্লেখ করেন, রফি সাহেবের কালজয়ী সৃষ্টিকর্ম ধর্মীয় ভেদাভেদ ও ভৌগোলিক সীমানা ছাড়িয়ে মানবজাতিকে একতাবদ্ধ করে।

এই অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন সংস্কৃতি বিষয়ক মাননীয় প্রতিমন্ত্রী জনাব আলী নেওয়াজ মাহমুদ খৈয়ম ও তাঁর স্ত্রী। ঢাকার সাংস্কৃতিক, ব্যবসায়িক ও গণমাধ্যম অঙ্গনের সঙ্গীতপ্রেমীগণ অনুষ্ঠানটিতে অংশগ্রহণ করেন।

As part of the ICCR Student Visitors Programme 2026-27, the visiting delegation of 25 Hindi students and faculty members from the Institute of Modern Languages (IML), University of Dhaka, had an interactive session with K. Nandini Singla, Director General, ICCR, at Azad Bhawan, New Delhi.

During the interaction, the Director General emphasized the pivotal role of youth and language in strengthening the historic ties between India and Bangladesh. The interaction was followed by a dynamic session with ICCR’s Foreign Scholars, fostering cross-cultural camaraderie over High Tea.

Initiatives such as these continue to forge lasting institutional synergy and deep linguistic appreciation among future global scholars!

ICCR Student Visitors Programme: Fostering Academic Excellence & Cultural Synergy in Varanasi

Marking a significant milestone in India-Bangladesh educational diplomacy, the 25-member Hindi language delegation from the Institute of Modern Languages, University of Dhaka, undertook a comprehensive academic and cultural visit to Varanasi.

Unlocking Living Heritage

The delegation boarded the Alaknanda cruise for an experiential study of Varanasi's riverfront. By exploring historic architectural sites and observing traditional rituals, the students gained deep insights into the region’s unique culture and spiritual heritage.

Academic Engagements at Banaras Hindu University (BHU)

The academic segment of the tour focused on institutional capacity-building and pedagogy. The delegation engaged in a productive dialogue with Prof. Rajkumar, Head of the Department of Hindi, and leading language scholars, exploring modern workflows for Hindi language acquisition.

Most notably, the delegation paid a formal courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor of BHU, which served as the cornerstone of the visit to discuss future academic collaborations, strategic joint research initiatives, and formal student exchange pathways. Through the Student Visitors Programme, ICCR continues to cultivate strong academic synergy and youth leadership across South Asia.

Addressing the audience at the occasion, HC conveyed his warm appreciation to all the artists and underlined the cultural bond that connected the people of the two neighbouring countries.

Written in Kolkata by Rahat Ara Begum and with music direction by renowned Indian musician Ratul Shankar Gosh, Dilnawaz exemplifies the vibrancy of the cultural exchange between India and Bangladesh.

Major Nirmal Singh of the Indian Army has been adjudged the Best Foreign Course Member of the Unit Command and Staff Course - 36, conducted at the School of Infantry and Tactics, Sylhet, Bangladesh.

The 17-week course, which culminated on 25 June 2026, was attended by 59 officers, including a contingent of foreign military officers.
